I am feeling so bored now.. I just dunno what to do.. tried to study but seems like "masuk telinga kanan, keluar telinga kiri" I am not the type of person who likes to push.. so if i dun feel like doing it.. I'll just give it a break.. "Wats the use of force if in the end you noe its not a happy ending??" But isnt that true?? I believe that everything should be done sincerely in life, or else, its not worth-it and god will not bless it too.. Anyways, i noe.. my quotes seem to be deep.. Sometimes, there just too much meaning put into each quote and I sometimes wonder if I truly meant it.. Back to my story.. I was just gonna briefly reminiscing my long but feels short holiday end of last year..
My holiday was about 3 months actually.. But, 1 month was for our elective, in which we had to attend a so called attachment work.. My first two weeks was my Cardio elective sessions in which I shared it with Azim.. We spent two weeks with joy at most tyms but also boredness at several occassions.. what i enjoy most during my Cardio elective is ward rounds.. Practically, every morning, Azim n I joined our preceptor for a general ward round involving patients with Cardiovascular problems.. we had a total of 6 preceptors i think with Dr Luqman as our boss.. We followed a schedule given to us for our main activity for the 2 weeks and at the final day, we had to do a presentation in front of doctors, nurses and health workers of the Cardio unit :P I cudnt explain really my experience there.. Overall, it was a good first elective experience and somehow it boost my enthusiasm and my motivation to be one of the local doctors in Brunei.. The exposure to patients and hospital settings was appropriate and gives a general insight of what to expect to be a health professionals in Brunei.. and I have to say that It feels way different compared to the ones we had in Brisbane.. Oh yes, our presentation was excellent!! hehe thanks azim for editing the presentation and make it presentable.. speaking of which, i still dun have a copy of the presentation and my pics!!!
My last 2 weeks of elective was a GP elective in which I had mine at Ong Sum Ping Hospital.. I am not used to GP settings actually, I just cant stand sitting and waiting for patients in an office.. It was towards the end of the year and the clinic was not usually busy, well, from observations, the clinic was only overcrowded if its on Monday, Saturday and of course at Nights.. But in most afternoon, it was a manageable clinic.. I didnt get to watch lots of differential diagnosis during my GP.. It was generally cold, fever, asthma, thyroid, HT and diabetes.. Every Tuesday, I attended the TB clinic at Kiarong.. I was actually surprised that the incidence of TB is quite a number in Brunei but there's no severe cases so far.. I also attended well-woman clinic, antenatal care clinic.. During the elective itself, I had the opportunity to assist the nurses to do injections, dressings, inserting ventilators, ECG procedure and Urinalysis..
Overall, my elective experience was worth-it.. I had a great tym learning the work situations, and also learning the culture and way to respond to the locals.. Definitely, the way we studied here is different and i think the elective has broaden my mind and at least prepare me for my upcoming years if I finally get the chance to work in brunei.. amin amin.. Thanks for all.. esp to the nurses and doctors, who are being kind, friendly and willing to teach me as well.. I guess for now, I have to study hard and make sure my dream will come true.. and by that tym, I shud be able to consider which field should I do when I graduate..
Of all great things in life, there should be at least one things that we had to face eventho' its a sad thing.. My uncle who used to take care of me when I was a kid past away in mid dec last year.. He was diagnosed with AML (Leukemia) when he was 69 years old.. He has been suffering the illness for about 6 months and that was hig prognosis actually as there was no treatments for him.. He was not in chemo as he has other complications, so he was just on blood transfusions as he easily becomes anaemic.. His platelet count was low which makes the condition worst.. As a medical student, I had a hard time dealing with the situation as I know about the illness, complications and prognosis.. and I just couldnt spilled it out coz i didnt want anyone to be more worried and just let the doctor informed the family of the condition... It was a sad moments for all of us and we had night gathering every night for 40 days reciting the 'yassin' and 'tahlil' for his blessings..
Just before I returned to my second homeland, my family had a short vacation to KK.. This is our second roadtrip to KK.. I actually dislike the idea of long roadtrip.. Tired wah!! But it was fun and lots of sceneries hmm i think!! coz, i ended up sleeping almost all the time heehee.. we spent 5 days in KK.. we spent 2 days and 2 night at the city... Hmm, to be honest, I was disappointed by the new shopping mall.. yes, there's all this branded shops here and there but there's nothing special that caught me!! being a shopaholic, I felt weird of not buying anything!! Starbucks was GOOD!! We also went to the market nearby and visit Bro's aunty..
We spent the next 2 days and 1 night at Mount Kinabalu Resort!! Yes, finally i get to see the Mount Kinabalu.. but I didnt climb it.. I'm still not fit enough to climb a mountain.. bukit shahbandar lagi alum abizz. haha.. The resort was great except there's no cooking facilities provided!! Byk plg ceta n sal disini but let it just be between the family and some ppl who knows saja.. Overall, it was a worth experience and we had a fun time.. besides, a family vacation once a while is great!! I love my family xoxo..
Mount Kinabalu resort - a good place to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery!!
Family photo - can you see the beautiful Mount kinabalu?? We were lucky to get a picture of it before the area became foggy (bekabus)!!
